A Growing Fad in Japan, the Long Breath Diet!

Last weekend I went home to visit my parents to see how they were doing, and like we always do during dinner we watched a Japanese variety shows. While watching one of the shows, the topic about a new dieting technique came up.

Long Breath Diet

A weight loss technique that only requires you to take elongated deep breaths 2 minutes a day. This Long Breath Diet was developed by 53 year old Japanese actor Ryosuke Miki. This was first started out as a way to ease his back pain while walking, then suddenly became a hit dieting exercise in Japan.

How Long Breath Diet Works

The Long Breath diet requires you to be in a specific position that maximizes the outcomes of the breathing. It only involves breathing in through your nose and exhaling through your mouth while pushing out all the air out using your abs stimulating all of the inner core muscles of your abdomen.

Making Exercise Fun

One of my good friend recently got a job in Georgia and this weekend was his last week here until he moves out there and start working in the big world. So for his accomplishment we celebrated last night and went out to Karaoke!! In East Lansing there’s two Karaoke places. One on M.A.C next to What’d up Dawg called Heart Beats and one behind Shell Station. I don’t know about Heart Beats but we went to the one behind the Shell station and they have variety of music from Vietnamese to English songs. So anyone can go.

What Does Karaoke Have to Do With Exercise

A lot of people might think that it’s weird I’m talking about singing instead of talking about new exercise routines or a new gym that opened up. But what a lot of people don’t understand is that singing IS exercise, but only if you really put your heart into it. What I mean is that when people sing they only sing from their throats. I’ve been in choir ever since I was in elementary school, and being a choir girl for more then 15 years the one thing that I’ve learned is that when you sing, you sing from your stomach. This is just from my experience but when you sing from your stomach you’re using the inner core muscles of your abs that you don’t usually use when you do crunches or other ab work outs. So if you sing for more than an hour using your stomach and dancing to the music you’re burning calories baby! And that’s a secret a lot of people don’t know, so shhhh, it’s just between us ;)

If anyone is interested, here’s a clip from Youtube about Heart Beats

Great Tips for College Students to stay Active

I noticed my senior year that I was never physically active throughout college, and because of that I’ve lost stamina, muscle, endurance and my physique. I can’t say that I don’t blame myself because part of it was cause I was super lazy, but the other part of it is because college students like myself don’t have the time! We’re bombarded with assignments, projects, papers, exams, etc. and on top of that most of us are part time workers to earn some living expenses. SO I decided to do some research to help my fellow students how they can stay active without spending all the money and some time saving exercises.

Have the Time but No Cash

I’ve realized that not everyone has the same exact situation, some of us have tons of time on their hands to do something but don’t have the money to go to a $15 group exercise. So here are some ideas:

Have the Money but No Time

Here are some quick and easy exercises you can do right in your dorm room or apartment!

  • 10 push-ups 3 sets each (work on your chest and biceps)
  • 15 squats or lunges 2-3 sets each (work on your glutes)
  • Bicycle (work on your abs)
  • Or if you have space where you live you can get your own fitness gym like total gym

I found a great blogger online that’s focused on workouts and exercise for busy people, his name is Kodjo Hounnake. He has videos and blog posts about how to transform yourself or just staying fit, at home. Visit his blog and he can definitely help you out the busy people.

My goal is to give ideas to college students on how to stay active throughout college. I will post every Sunday on what I’ve found throughout the week. Tips, videos, other bloggers, etc.

Leave a comment or two if you’ve heard or have any ideas as well!

Kickboxing at Spartan Fit Center

On Monday September 24th I went to my first kickboxing class. My best friend always went to one at Life Time Fitness back home but I never knew what I would get myself into. Honestly I’m not the most physically fit person in the world but I don’t consider myself unfit either but my gosh this was one of the most brutal work outs I’ve ever experienced besides the two days I’ve done insanity. Especially since no one else showed up for the class so it was just the instructor and myself. ONE ON ONE. But I must say it was a good work out and I definitely think I’m gonna keep on going back to the class until I reach my ideal goal.

Interested?
